創傷性腦損傷是由於頭部受外來撞擊引致腦部功能受損  。在現今社會中,幼童和長者容易因跌傷造成創傷性腦損傷而入院,甚至構成生命危險。而交通意外則是青少年時期造成創傷性腦損傷後遺症的主因  。

創傷性腦損傷分為輕微、中等及嚴重三個程度。輕微創傷性腦損傷(或稱腦震盪)會令患者短暫失去知覺。而嚴重創傷性腦損傷則會引致長時間昏迷或創傷後失憶   。不論嚴重程度如何,創傷性腦損傷都需要悉心醫治和照料  。
